£1m Premium Bonds prize won in Sussex
Someone in Sussex is starting October a whole lot better off, after winning the top prize of £1million in this month’s Premium Bonds draw.
Premium Bonds are savings managed by NS&I on behalf of the government. Instead of earning interest, investors are entered into a monthly random draw with prizes ranging from £25 all the way up to £1million. The maximum bond holding allowed is £50,000.
High-value prizes for October have been announced, with one of the top prizes being won by a holder from East Sussex who had bonds worth £50,000. The other top prize was won by someone from Somerset, who had a holding of £16,000.
One person from Sussex, a West Sussex resident, won the second-top prize of £100,000 in October’s draw, while a further seven won the next-best prize of £50,000 – six of them were from West Sussex and one was from East Sussex.

While other Sussex holders missed out on the biggest prizes, there was still lots to celebrate across the area, with the list of high-value winners featuring hundreds of holders from the county who shared more than £2.4million.
Six people from East Sussex bagged the fourth-top prize of £25,000 – as did a further five people from West Sussex and two from Brighton & Hove.
The full list of high-value-prize Premium Bonds winners can be viewed online at NS&I’s website, where further information about Premium Bonds can also be found.
The list also showed 45 people across Sussex – 25 from West Sussex, 14 from East Sussex and six from Brighton & Hove – won £10,000, while a further 77 – 45 from West Sussex, 23 from East Sussex and nine from Brighton & Hove – won £5,000.
A total of 853 people in Sussex won £1,000 – the smallest of the published high-value prizes – with 470 of them being from West Sussex, 294 from East Sussex and 89 from Brighton & Hove.
