'Urgency' - Crawley Town have to 'want to score more' says Kazim-Richards
Crawley Town Manager Colin Kazim-Richards says his side has to ‘want to score more’, after his side slipped to another home defeat, this time to Cheltenham Town 3-1.
The Reds got the perfect start as Dylan Morgan scored his first EFL goal of his career, and Crawley’s first goal at home this season. But Two Charlie McCann goals and a header from ex-Premier League star Andreas Weimann sent the Robins into fourth and the travelling 218 fans home happy.
Speaking with club media after the game, Kazim-Richards said “We have to want to score as much as we want to defend. It has to be the same because there’s only so many times that the guys at the back can clean it up for us.”
Throughout the game, there didn’t seem much urgency from the team, something the crowd certainly noticed, constantly calling for Michalski to play the ball, rather than keep it at his feet. Kazim-Richards has noticed it as well, saying: “Right now, as I sit here and obviously not looked at anything back and not gone into detail and watch, just need more urgency. Need people to put more bodies on the line and stick to doing what’s working. I think we have a tendency to, when something’s working, we want to do something else.”

The Reds also got a lot of success down the left flank in the first half, but the manager noticed that for some reason, the team decides to try something else. He said: “I think sometimes we get bored of wanting to do things that are working. And then we want to try and sometimes do the opposite, or think that we have to do something different because we’ve done that four or five times
“That’s why there’s a big difference between being a good player and a very good player. That difference is quite a big difference because if you watch football, very good players would do the same thing 10, 15, 20 times if it’s working, no matter what. It doesn’t matter.
“I’ve gone to the right side 15 times. It’s worked 15 times. That’s what I want to see more. Being more consistent, having more urgency, getting up to the ball, blocking the ball more. When we get into those final areas that we do a million times in a game, there’s no problem with getting there and creating. We’re creating a lot of chances now. Finishing it off.
"We have to want to score more.”
Crawley travel to Grimsby next Saturday, before hosting Barnet in another lunchtime kick off the following Saturday.
