Crawley Town player ratings: SIX 5s as defeat at Accrington Stanley drops Reds to 21st
Pemi Aderoju’s lifeline wasn’t enough to compensate for Crawley Town’s costly defensive woes in a 3-2 defeat to Accrington Stanley.
Charlie Caton gave the home side the lead within the first five minutes with a convincing strike from close range.

The Reds then levelled in the 20th minute after a shaky start through Danilo Orsi who scored on the turn after a well-worked move.
Accy regained the lead again early into the half this ten minutes in with Caton scoring his second of the afternoon after the Reds failed to clear.
The hosts went two goals to the good when centre-back Devon Matthews tapped it in at the back post following a set piece.
Substitute Aderoju finished from Kellan Gordon’s cross with a well-taken finish into the bottom-left corner, but that only proved to be a consolation.
Here are Asa Finch’s Crawley Town player ratings.
Jackson Izquierdo: 5 – A misplaced clearance from the goalkeeper ultimately led to Accrington taking the lead inside the first five minutes; however a great save just past the 15 minute mark to keep it at 1-0 was a huge moment in the game. The former Crystal Palace youth player was unconvincing for Accy’s second goal.
Charlie Barker: 6 –Slotted through a brilliant through ball for Osman Kamara which led to Crawley’s leveller and looked more assured after a shaky opening defensively as a team, but ultimately part of a unit which conceded three really poor goals
Priestley Farquharson: 5 – The centre back looked very unsettled at times and looked one of the weaker links in the defensive department this afternoon.
Malcolm Ebiowei: 5 – Came straight into the side following the completion of his suspension and had a very quiet first half before being withdrawn in Crawley’s first changes of the afternoon.
Louie Watson: 7 – Worked extremely hard during the game with a lot of off-the-ball runs, whether that be dropping deep to draw defenders away or running in behind.
Danilo Orsi: 6 – A well-taken goal on the turn to score his first in the league but impact was limited, especially when the ball was played direct to him.
Osman Kamara: 7 – Looked very lively in the first half and made that intelligent run in behind for Crawley’s first goal but still lacked that decision making of final pass or dribble.
Jude Arthurs: 7 – Was very influential in Crawley’s attack, pulling out wide to make things happen, and supporting Kamara on the left.
Ade Adeyemo: 6 – Played more of a deeper role in today’s game and drove through the heart of Accrington well at times but wasn’t clinical enough.
Akin Odimayo: 5 – Defensively sound from the former Northampton and Newport County man. Played very high during the game which left the Reds quite exposed at times.
Klaudio Krasniqi: 5 – Was effective as a holding player sitting centrally. Crawley’s direct style meant he didn’t see much of the ball but he picked up on loose balls really well.
Substitutes:
Kellan Gordon: 6 – Provided an assist off the bench for Aderoju’s goal and delivered a lot of dangerous crosses into the Accrington box, which the Reds weren’t able to get on the end of enough.
Dion Pereira: 7 – Was effective in the pockets when he picked up the ball and drove at the Accy defence becoming a real threat.
Dylan Morgan: 6 – Added a real freshness when he came on with clever runs in behind but was unable to get any real shots or crosses off.
Pemi Aderoju: 7 – Made an instant impact when he came on, providing a different dynamic up top, holding up the ball and providing an aerial threat. Got one back for Crawley with a really clever finish into the bottom left corner from a Gordon cross.
Gianmarco Di Biase: 5 – Was unable to really impact the game when he came on.
