Crawley Town boss pleased with attacking competition despite defensive woes following away defeat
Crawley Town boss Colin Kazim-Richards spoke positively about his attacking options despite being undone defensively in a 3-2 defeat at Accrington Stanley on Saturday (September 5).
Danilo Orsi was given the nod ahead of Pemi Aderoju to lead the line against Accrington Stanley.

And Orsi scored the Reds first-half equaliser after a well-worked move that had a scrappy, but fruitful ending.
Peterborough loanee Aderoju came off the bench to give the visitors a lifeline, scoring the final goal of the afternoon with a clever finish into the bottom-left corner.
Explaining why he felt Orsi was the right man to lead the line, Kazim-Richards told Sussex World: “Orsi is a goalscorer. Orsi scores goals in training. He’s a threat around the box. He’s also a personality and character that in these type of games. He’s not going to shy away from the game.
“Also, we’ve had three games in ten days, and he is someone that understands this league very well and I just thought he would be a goal threat – that’s the type of goal Orsi scores. I call it an ugly, scruffy goal – the way it went in, not the build up.
“But other than that we have to score amazing goals all the time. If you go through every goal we scored, even Orsi’s before the actual finish, if you go down to the way we played, we don’t capitalise on the mistakes teams are making and I felt Orsi can do that – being in the box, being a nuisance and understanding where the goal is.”
When speaking about the healthy contest between the strikers he added: “I’m very happy with the competition. We have three good strikers and at any moment they can play alone, they can play together.
“My whole thing is when you are coming off the bench you make an impact and impact the game. As you see, our bench has always made an impact since I’ve been here. I think we are very high on impacts off the bench.
“And it goes to show that sometimes what you are seeing as a manager is right because when we have made a change, they have come up trumps for us. It wasn’t enough today. We could have had another one [and] probably should have done a bit better.”
The Crawley boss spoke about the difficulties of choosing who is the right person on a game-to-game basis.
He said: “I think we have three strikers that are all different and you have to try and find space for one of them or two of them to be able to play.
“Pemi might have been disappointed but it was nothing to do with the way that he played technically or tactically in the last game. I just thought it’s three games in ten days, so freshen it up – that's it.”
The Reds have a full week off before returning to action at the Broadfield Stadium to face Cheltenham Town on Saturday (September 12) in an early kick-off (12:30pm).
