Geoff Stonebanks has opened his garden in Bishopstone to visitors for the 16th year. Having raised a phenomenal £170,000 for charity, notably Macmillan Cancer Support and the National Garden Scheme over the years, he is set to raise more this summer, by inviting visitors to pre-book and see his award-winning garden, Driftwood through until the 31st July.

Prior to opening, almost 300 people had phoned and booked a visit, many repeat visitors and quite a few who had seen Geoff and the garden on BBC Gardeners’ World back in March this year and on both ITV Meridian News and BBC SE Today in April.

Geoff’s garden has been listed on Trip Advisor for 8 years now and has achieved some amazing feedback from some of the 23,000 visitors that have seen the garden since 2009. The garden sits at number 2, between Seven Sisters County Park as number 1 attraction in the Seaford area and Cuckmere Haven at number 3, quite an achievement. Driftwood has been the number 1 cultural attraction in the Seaford area for several years in a row now too.

Paula James wrote on 1st June: “Driftwood Gardens offers something special and unique. An unexpected jewel hidden away. All proceeds go to charity which is amazing.

“My mother and I were the first visitors to this beautiful garden this year. Geoff was the perfect host and really went out of his way to make our visit memorable. It was really interesting hearing his story and how he created this little piece of paradise. You have to see it to believe it! Geoff has managed to create a really interesting and relaxing outside space with many different plants, water features and decorative items.“Geoff is also pretty talented at making cakes and tea! Coffee & Walnut Cake was scrumptious! We had a wonderful afternoon and will be back. Would highly recommend a visit.”

In addition to the beautiful garden, great tea and home-made cake, all served on vintage china, on trays, Geoff also has a display of 8 local artists work for sale in his plot too.

The garden has a creative and imaginative beach garden at the front of the house, directly facing the sea, about a quarter of a mile away. Wander through a collection of marine objects, grasses, seaside plants and around the large black rowing boat, which takes centre stage in the gravel garden.
