Liberal Democrat leader Ed Davey continued his campaign trail this week with a bungee jump in Eastbourne.

Sir Ed Davey completed his latest challenge at Eastbourne Borough Football Club yesterday (Monday, July 1) while encouraging voters to ‘take a leap of faith’.

He shouted ‘vote Liberal Democrat’ as he jumped from a 160-ft crane.

He added: “Take the risk, take the plunge. Do something you’ve never done before, vote Liberal Democrat.”

Speaking after the jump, the Lib Dem leader said: "To get the change our country needs this week and beat the Conservatives in scores of seats, I am asking people to take a leap of faith and vote for the Liberal Democrats.

"A lot of people are on the cusp of doing something they’ve never done before on Thursday and voting for the Liberal Democrats, so I decided to do something I’ve never done before too.

“Every vote for the Liberal Democrats is a vote to fix the NHS and care, end the sewage scandal and tackle the cost of living crisis.”

The bungee jump is Sir Ed’s latest unusual stunt in the campaign trail ahead of the General Election on Thursday, July 4.

He visited Eastbourne previously in May, just days after the election date was announced. Here, he was photographed walking along the promenade while eating ice cream and speaking with local residents.

Following the visit, he encouraged voters to back the town’s Liberal Democrat candidate, Josh Babarinde, stating that he will ‘fight for a fair deal’ for his community.
