Sussex Police launched a murder investigation in Chichester following a fatal assault on Thursday (June 20) evening.

A large police presence was seen in West Street, Chichester, following the incident which occurred at about 11pm. Sussex Police confirmed one man has died, and another has been charged with murder.

The incident coincides with the city centre farmer's market. 'I expect it has (affected trade), but it's my first time here so it's hard to say' one trader said. 'I'm getting the feeling that it has, and I've been told by other traders that it has.'
