UK spike in demand for copper and matt black light switches, according to Sussex manufacturer

The Forest Row based company, which exports plug sockets and light switches internationally will be displaying its full range of 25 colours – including strawberry, orange and plum – at this month’s Southern Homebuilding & Renovating Show at Sandown Park, Surrey.

White sockets and switches are still in highest demand in all 25 countries which the East Sussex based company exports to, but it has noted that in Ghana, for example, there is a growing interest in gold and copper-coloured sockets as along as the prices are kept close to the more traditional choices.

Italian design is trending more towards colours, metallic finishes and even wood textures for sockets and switches, while the growing trend in the US is for brushed nickel or stainless-steel finishes. In Malta, silver has joined white as the most sought-after colours and the company feels it is encouraging the locals to consider more ‘quirky’ designs.

Trendi Switch Director of Global Sales, Andrew Mackie said “We are seeing that colour trends for sockets and switches can vary significantly based on regional preferences, cultural influences and design aesthetics. We began this company believing the existing offerings within the wiring accessory market needed a design update with further development in the colour variations offered. These country-based demands and indeed the diversity of the demands for different colours is currently proving our point.”

Trendi Switch, now based at Forest Row in East Sussex, began in 2015 with the idea of producing a design-led, functional product which would be similar in price to conventional light switches and sockets. Initially providing wiring accessories to the South East, it soon grew to supply all of the UK and then developed an international export arm.

Trendi Switch will be exhibiting at stand S719 at the Southern Homebuilding & Renovating Show, from 29-30 June at Sandown Park, Surrey.

Visitors to the show will also be able to experience products from over 180 exhibitors. The key elements of homebuilding and renovating from planning permission to interior design will be highlighted at 30 masterclasses and seminars in the show’s two theatres and visitors can book one-to-one sessions with the experts.
